Adding Sound to FrontPage2000 Hover Buttons

Frontpage tips templates tables optimize html xml java data frames css format menu navigationOnce you create a hover button in Microsoft® FrontPage® 2000, you can associate a sound effect with it that will play whenever a visitor points to or clicks on the button. To do so, right-click on the hover button and select Hover Button Properties. In the Hover Button Properties dialog box, click Custom. Then, in the Play Sound panel, place your insertion point in the appropriate text box, either On Click or On Hover. Use the Browse button to locate the sound file. Then, click OK twice.

Keep in mind that the sound file must be an AU file--you can't use MID or WAV files--and it must be saved in 8-bit, 8000 Hz, mono, u-law format. The reason for these restrictions is that hover buttons are actually Java applets. The following Microsoft Knowledge Base article offers more information on using sound files with hover buttons:

Opening Multiple Windows

Opening Separate instances of FP2k

Something that has caused a lot of raucous is that it seemed as though you cannot toggle in between several pages within FrontPage® 2000 while working on a web.

Actually, what Microsoft® did with FrontPage® 2k is better than the old FP98 way of opening several pages in the editor only. You can now open several instances of FP2k very easily by simply clicking on NEW WINDOW from the WINDOW menu at the top of the screen.

You can also drag and drop folders and files in between these windows as well.

To Publish to the Web using FTP

If you are publishing to a server that does not support FrontPage extensions you may use FrontPage® 2000's FTP locations to make publishing with the FTP protocol simple.

To Publish the web using FTP:

Open the web in FP and select FILE > PUBLISH WEB
This opens the publish web dialog box.  Type in the ftp address of the FTP server you are publishing to.  After you have done this once you will be able to pick this location from a list of FTP Locations next time you want to publish your web.

Click the options button to expand the dialog box and you will have the option to publish all pages or changed pages only. You can also opt to publish subwebs as well in this dialog box.

Click publish and when the upload is complete FP2k will display the URL and an option to view the site to verify that the pages upload was successful.

You Can add FTP Locations so that future publishing will be that much simpler.
In FP select FILE > PUBLISH >
Select FTP LOCATIONS and double click ADD/MODIFY FTP Locations enter in the FTP address,  your username and password. Click OK

FP2k will store this login info for you and when you select this FTP location from the list the next time you publish using the FTP Locations from the publish web dialog box FP will not prompt you for the username and password information. It will just publish the pages for you.
