| Send Hyperlinks |
Instead of attaching big documents to e-mail, meeting requests, contacts, and so on,
use a hyperlink if the document resides on a server or Internet. All Outlook items support
rich text, so simply start typing the URL (for example, http://www.microsoft.com or
File:\\) and Outlook will change the text to the hyperlink. Click the hyperlink and
Outlook will automatically start your Web browser or jump to the net location. This saves
on traffic for your mail server. |
 |
| Quick Card Selection |
| In the Contact Manager, to quickly select a card in another part of the contact list,
click the appropriate letter button at the right side of the window. Or, click the scroll
buttons at the bottom of the window. You can also just start typing the first letter of
the contact and Outlook will jump to that section. |
 |
| Customize Outlook |
| To customize the basic functionality of Outlook, click Options on the Tools menu. |
 |
| Change Outlook Note Colors |
| You can change the color of Outlook notes from the basic yellow sticky note. Open a
note, click the Note icon in the upper-left corner, point to Color, and then select a
color on the shortcut menu. |
 |
| Enable Horizontal Scroll Bars |
| If you want to enable horizontal scroll bars in a view, click Format View on the View
menu and click to clear the Automatic Column Sizing check box. |
 |
| Copy Folder Views |
| If you want to copy views from one folder to another, on the File menu, point to
Folder, and then click Copy Folder Design on the shortcut menu. You can copy Views, Forms,
Rules, and other special settings from one folder to another folder. |
 |
| Mouse Button Keystrokes |
| What is the keystroke equivalent to clicking with the right mouse button? Use
SHIFT+F10. |
 |
| Schedule a Meeting |
| If you ever need to schedule a meeting with others in your Outlook Calendar, but do not
want to generate a meeting request (that is, you have already received verbal agreement on
the phone or by passing in the hall), here's how to do it. Beside each name in the
attendee list (Meeting Planner view) is an Envelope icon. Click the icon, and change it to
"Don't send meeting to this attendee." In addition, you can also manually change
the Response field for any attendee. |
