| Stupidity and
Education: |
- Only two things
are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure
about the former.
- Reading, after a
certain age, diverts the mind too much from its creative
pursuits. Any man who reads too much and uses his own
brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking.
- It is a miracle
that curiosity survives formal education.
- The important
thing is not to stop questioning.

| |
| Religion: |
- My religion
consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior
spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to
perceive with our frail and feeble mind.
- Science without
religion is lame, religion without science is blind.

| Mathematics: |
- As far as the
laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and
as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality.
- Yes, we have to
divide up our time like that, between our politics and our
equations. But to me our equations are far more important, for
politics are only a matter of present concern. A mathematical
equation stands forever.
- We should take
care not to make the intellect our god; it has, of course,
powerful muscles, but no personality.
|
| |
| Opinion: |
- If the facts
don't fit the theory, change the facts.
- Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.
- Out of intense complexities, intense simplicities emerge.
|
| |
| Sanity: |
- Insanity: doing
the same thing over and over again and expecting different
results.

Einstein's theory on socks...
"When I was young, I found out that the big toe always ends up making a hole in the sock," he once said.
"So I stopped wearing socks." Einstein was also a fanatical slob, refusing to "dress properly" for anyone.
Either people knew him or they didn't, he reasoned - so it didn't matter either way. |
